On Saturday, 13th December 2025, the Middlesbrough Masonic Hall played host to the Yorkshire North and East Riding Divisional Conclave meeting.
Our Intendant General, R. Ill.Kt. Steven Groeger, having travelled up to Middlesborough on Friday, arrived at the Masonic Hall to coffee and a selection of Pork Pies, plain or with apple and one with…. Black Pudding! Local delicacies.
Catching up with fellow Intendant Generals, some of whom had been at the Devon and Cornwall meeting the previous weekend, was, as usual, great fun. No one counted the amount of pie that was consumed.
The meeting, which was the first full meeting for the Intendant General, R.Ill. Kt. Willie Gray, ran very smoothly with the Divisions own elements making it a delightful spectacle.
The main part of the meeting was the appointment and re-appointment of the Divisional Officers. Firstly, P. Kt. Tony Burke was reappointed as Deputy Intendant General, and Ill. Kt. John Kettlewell was confirmed in the office of Eusebius. The Intendant General thanked all who had served the Division during the past year for their dedication and support. The Intendant General then appointed or reappointed the remaining Divisional Officers for 2025–2026.
Lastly, the Sepulchre Guard were presented, with P. Kt. Ced Thornton reappointed as Captain of the Guard and W. Kt. Nick Hammond appointed as Deputy Captain of the Guard. Newly appointed Guards assumed their respective duties with pride.
During his address, the Intendant General expressed gratitude for the hard work and commitment shown by all Knights throughout the year and highlighted ongoing initiatives and plans for the future.
The meeting came to a close and following some photographs all proceeded to the festive board which consisted of a Haggis roll (pastry), chicken, with apple pie to follow. The followed some delightful speeches, with contained some humour but reflecting the respect the Division has for their Intendant General.
The day concluded with Knights departing in high spirits, full of enthusiasm for the year ahead.
