Conclave History

The Milvian Bridge Conclave was formed of members, present and past, of the Divisional Sepulchre Guard, at the request of the Intendant-General, Rt.Ill.Kt. Roger Charles Bricknell.

An inaugural meeting was held on Tuesday, 29th November 2011 at the King’s Court Masonic Centre, Chandlers Ford, where the proposition of this Conclave was instigated. An active sub-committee was formed, which met when required, culminating in the Conclave being Founded on Thursday, 11th October 2012, at the Keystone Hall, East Street, Andover. The name was chosen as this was the location of the battle between Constantine and Maxentius and is now referred to in the Oration.

The Constituting Officer was Most Ill.Kt. Richard Victor Wallis, J.P., G.C.C. The Consecrating Officer was Rt.Ill.Kt. Roger Charles Bricknell, the Divisional Intendant-General for the Division of Hampshire, Wiltshire and Isle of Wight.

The Conclave meets in Andover on the second Wednesday in January, (Enthronement) and third Thursday in June. During its time only two candidates have been Installed as a Knight of the Red Cross of Constantine; W. Kt. Ian Vincent, who subsequently became a member of the Divisional Sepulchre Guard and W. Kt Paul Anthony Jeans who is a current member of the Divisional Sepulchre Guard. Lectures have been presented at a number of meetings, some of which have been instructive in relation to conditions and duties of the Roman Soldier. During one meeting the future of the Conclave was discussed, to decide if it was to be some form of Instructive Conclave. The membership is small but efforts are being made to attract new faces.
