Trip to Bury St. Edmunds

On Saturday, July 12th, the Intendant General and the newly appointed Deputy Intendant General visited Bury St Edmunds to attend the annual Divisional meeting of the Division of East Anglia.

After a substantial drive, approximately three hours, they were greeted warmly by the knights of the Division. They subsequently enjoyed a refreshing cup of coffee and a bacon roll in the pleasant sunshine.

The meeting was presided over by R.Ill.Kt. Dr. John Elmore. Contrary to expectations, he had to continue as Intendant General for an additional year due to a last-minute withdrawal of the Intendant General designate.

This being John’s eleventh time presiding at an annual meeting, his expertise was evident, and the meeting was conducted exceptionally well. This included a meaningful rededication ceremony, a well-executed requiem, and the successful installation of a new Deputy Intendant General, Ill.Kt. Tony Mason. We extend our best wishes for a successful tenure and look forward to seeing him at other Divisional meetings.

Following the meeting, the attendees retired to the masonic centre’s patio, where they enjoyed refreshments with other guests and members of the division. This was followed by a delightful festive board, fostering further conversation. Regrettably, we had to depart, as we were thoroughly enjoying ourselves, but an extended journey awaited us, as did many of the other attendees.
